Founded by children’s author Sharon Hopwood, Everyone Belongs is a social enterprise that helps children read, feel and flourish through storytelling.
We believe stories have the power to help children understand themselves, connect with others and discover that they matter. Through storytelling, conversation, creativity and play, we help children build empathy, confidence and a lifelong love of reading.
Working alongside schools, libraries, family hubs and community organisations, we create engaging storytelling experiences that support children’s emotional literacy, strengthen communication and inspire a genuine enjoyment of books.

Every child deserves to feel seen, valued and that they belong.
When children feel they belong, they are more confident to participate, more willing to express themselves and better able to build positive relationships with others.
Yet many children find it difficult to recognise emotions, communicate how they feel and develop meaningful connections.
We believe storytelling creates a powerful space where children can explore emotions, understand different perspectives and discover that they matter.
OUR STORY.
Everyone Belongs is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company (CIC) founded by children’s author Sharon Hopwood after more than twenty years working with children in schools, libraries and community settings.
Again and again, Sharon saw the same thing: when children feel seen, valued and that they belong, they are more confident to participate, express themselves, build friendships and develop a lifelong love of reading.
Stories create safe spaces where children can explore emotions, understand different perspectives and discover that their experiences matter.
Through storytelling, creativity and conversation, Everyone Belongs brings children, families, schools and communities together to build empathy, confidence and meaningful connections—helping every child read, feel and flourish.
